Recently, we said goodbye to Tara, who began in our student pool and advanced to a summer associate role. As she heads to Glasgow for further studies, Tara shared her reflections on her time at Synch.

Tara’s Reflections

What was your experience like from the student pool to becoming a summer associate at Synch?

Starting in Synch’s reception was a great introduction. It helped me improve my communication, prioritization, and multitasking skills while giving me insight into the firm’s operations. This foundation allowed me to take on legal tasks early on, which was very rewarding.

As a summer associate, I gained exposure to various legal areas, including company law, trademark law, and AI legislation. The role provided a balance of responsibility and support, which boosted my confidence and problem-solving skills. I’m now more excited than ever to complete law school and begin my career!

How would you describe the culture at Synch?

Synch’s open and friendly culture made a big difference. The lack of strict hierarchy meant I felt comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas. The collaborative environment encouraged me to take initiative and contribute actively, making me feel like a valued team member.

What was your most memorable experience at Synch?

This is a difficult question. I have learned so much in nine weeks! But if I could only pick one thing, I would mention the incredibly fun task I was given by Synch's AI team. Having the opportunity to dive deep into the new AI Act and help them with research and help with Synch’s “DECODING THE AI ACT” articles has been so much fun. It has really opened my eyes to the new legal area of AI and ignited my interest in AI. Being able to bounce ideas and ask a lot of questions to Synch’s experts has been such a great opportunity.

I have learned so much that I plan to take with me while writing my thesis next year, and I am excited to see how the field of law develops, and I look forward to reading all of Synch’s upcoming articles this fall.

What advice would you give to students interested in joining Synch?

Apply as soon as possible and be ready to embrace Synch’s values of Curiosity, Harmony, Friendliness, and Transparency. You’ll have a memorable experience with great assignments and colleagues. Good luck!
